And losing track of time as my fingertips trail
Across every last inch of gloriously pale skin
Cypress knees emerge from the path, mottled brown-grey
Their knobby and rough hide designed to catch my foot
As I amble along this gravel path, arm linked with yours
Camouflaging themselves within the walkway, treacherous
It does not matter as my footing is sure, confident
Knowing that whichever way I may start to stumble
Your presence will help steady me, guide me
That we'll work together to take the best steps forward
Titanium, steel, scandium all weak
A spider's web pound for pound, nothing
Mighty as an oak is, would bend to you
Concrete cracks and breaks with your strength
Even the unyielding river driving it's way to the sea
Chooses another course as it winds to go around you
Such is the strength you possess
It is truly inexplicable and mind boggling
This celestial body exists in a perfect position
The perfect size and the perfect weight
And in combination with our own gravity
Affects our tides, our cycles, our brains
You have much in common with the moon
Pale beauty, magnificent effect, ethereal
Your waxing and waning, as you work
To make your life what you need it to be
Creates waves that wash over us all
Inundating in your strength and beauty
It's a smile, pointed at me, dazzling bright with happiness
It's a word, encouraging and loving, exactly what I needed at that moment
It's a presence, fully there, a calming influence in a storm of chaos
It's ivory arms, wrapping themselves about me, reminding of all the good in the world
It's everything I need to help me find center and remember, this world is a good place.
Ocean breeze ruffling that curl
You know which one that I mean
The one that when you twirl it
Makes my heart jump in my chest
That when I get to play with it
Makes my whole body feel electric
Seeing it dance on that salt laden wind
As the reflection of the moon
Does it's own dance on the water
That is what beauty is truly about
Stone, hard and unyielding
But suggestive of a permanence
An indelible medium of expression
Have I found a version
Not cold and rough and solid
But soft, with an intrinsic warmth
Belying all that stone is
Carrying that strength and solidity
Through beautiful, pale arms
That wrapped around me
All feels right with the world,
The most beautiful sunsets contain a few clouds
The better to distribute the orange and purple hues
That make up evening's vibrantly woven tapestry
The best country roads have a few bumps and curves
Making the most of every moment you drive them
Feet and hands and brain experiencing the thrill
The best lives are interesting and exhilarating
Giving you the most incredible moments to learn
And enjoy as you tarry on through the tough spots
But yours, with all its twists and turns, brightens
Every day that I am along for the ride
Early morning cool before the heat of the day
Air heady with the scent of roses and honeysuckle
Dew like sprinkled pearls across the verdant grass
Coffee warm in my hand and warm as I sip with
Cinnamon and sweet from the heavy cream
Only thing missing from this heaven is you
Three AM and the night breeze is washing across my face
Cool and honeysuckle scented, it calls to mind those past
Incredible evenings with you and soft Carolina breezes
As the smile plays across my sleepy face, I know that
There will be more of these to come, hundreds if I get my way
Feelings for you so strong they almost seem an impossibility
And I love that they continue to grow, no cessation at all
And I revel that one day, soon, I'll get to hug you again

More of a statement really
In fact, an emphatic one
I will stay by your side
Through whatever may come
I am going nowhere
Until such time as you choose

Six weeks is not even a blip
A piece of me is now missing
A hole sunk deep in my heart
Temporary though it may be
It exists, it grows, it lives now
I have leant it out but in all truth
This piece was not really mine
This piece has belonged to you
From the very moment my arms
First wrapped tightly around you
From the instant your soulful eyes
First looked deep into mine own
This piece has been yours as surely
As it was ever mine and will remain
Use it now to fortify your ever present
Strength and compassion and heart
And I will grow stronger and be ready

It's impossible to distill it down
To one thing I miss the most
Impossible to narrow down
One single, solitary item
I could say, it's the way your hair feels
As I twirl it in my deft fingers
Or is it your fragrance wafting on the air
Teasing my nostrils with your essence
Might just as well be your skin
The ivory glow nearly ethereal with beauty
Then there's your very being and laugh
Soothing the very fiber of my soul
With your mind and the musicality of laughter
Truth be told, it's the totality contained therein
The combination of every lovely piece of you
It's the lights that tease me unnecessarily
Dimmed for that romantic ambience
Yet, preventing my eyes from seeing
Every facet of your ineffable beauty
As you sit across from me, the perfect distance
Enough to take you all in, yet far enough
That I'm not tempted to touch and feel
Your skin with my fingertips, constantly
Even as the drink slides past my lips
It's combination of apple-tart and whiskey-sweet
I know I'd rather them be entangled with yours
Even if it is but a brief taste
From out of the blue is an understatement
With big, liquid blue eyes that entranced me
To what I came to regard as the warmest
Of warm hearts and hugs, you appeared
A very consequential addition to my life
Never have I known, anyone with the mind
Sense of humor, ability to love, and beauty
That hold within you, and I am privileged
To get to gaze upon it all and see you for you
And be myself with you, no matter what that may be
