The River is the constant around us
Constantly flowing and ebbing
Carrying the detritus of the forest
Forming and reforming shoals
And sand banks and small islands
Constantly fighting us as we try
In our hubris to reshape it's nature
To mold it to what we want it to be
Fish and fauna know to live with it
The River is constant in it's very essence
The essence to be at it's core, inconstant
